Press Release Summary: Vision Media Group a web development company based out of Phoenix and Las Vegas announced to release a dance community website- udance2.com on January 1st, 2008.
Press Release Body: Are "Niche Networks" the Next Generation of Social Media on the Web?
"Dancers, advertisers, dance studios, and even dance shops better be ready, "Udance2", located at www.udance2.com, will be officially released to the general public on January 1st, 2008." This was the announcement made today by web design and development company Vision Media Group (www.visionwebpros.com). The company's executive board members described the web site as ".the trend setter for the next generation of social media on the web."
In addition to announcing the Udance2.com release date, the company informed us that the special New Year's Day release will be accompanied by a series of special offers for studios, shops, and advertisers who are able to get their foot in the door first. Although the company was hesitant to give any specifics, they did tell us that the site would offer a number of free, full-featured online dance shops for dance-commerce store owners to sell their products in the Udance2 "Online Dance Mall", as well as free studio memberships to support studio owners in marketing their studios. This includes such things as publishing course catalogs, featuring videos, publishing their events calendars, being hosted in the Ud2 dance studio directory, and more.
Of course, membership is always free for dancers, and the variety of features held by Udance2.com gives sites like Myspace, Facebook, Utube, and Flickr a run for their money. We even found a number of tools and utilities exclusive to the Udance2 web site, which cannot be found on any of the big social networking sites. Clifford Hoelz, creator of Udance2.com describes the site as ".a bleeding edge site with bleeding edge technology. We carefully planned out the development process to make sure no one was left out." He goes on to explain that Udance2 was made to be a 'social hub' for all those affiliated with the industry, not just enthusiasts.
"After spending some time on the site, you begin to realize the power behind it and what it could do for other industries that hold a large base of enthusiasts," explains Hoelz. Based on our conversation with Mr. Hoelz, it would not be surprising to see a series of niche-based social media networks from Vision Media Group in the near future.
Since 2002, with the advent of Myspace, the online "Social Media" trend has continued surprising experts with record-setting hit counts and exponentially climbing user-bases, without showing any signs of fizzling out. Others have predicted that the future of the Internet is in similar social media-based web sites, the difference being in that the next generation of social media is in web-based networks that cater to interest-specific groups, such as musicians, auto enthusiasts, athletes, aspiring actors and actresses, and even dancers.
Furthermore, all you have to do is turn on the TV to notice the massive success of dance-based television shows like Fox Broadcasting's "So You Think You Can Dance" and ABC's "Dancing with the Stars". These shows have exposed a prominent and rapidly growing community of dance enthusiasts. With that in mind, it is not surprising that among the first of these "next-gen" social media sites is a social community just for dancers.
Dan Orlando, acting CEO of Vision Media Group, explains, "Just like most online trends, online interactivity is changing faster than most companies can keep up with. Udance2 is the first of several trend-setting contributions to the web that Vision Media Group has in store, most of which will be released during the first half of 2008." When asked what else Vision had in store for us, Orlando stated that a major software release will be announced in mid-January, which will - according to Orlando - ".offer a new and innovative way for publishers to offer high-quality, on-demand video content over the Internet."
